Warranty : 1 year

Notes:
It is probably most common system on
the market.
Manufactured in UK by BELL company.
Very sturdy door panel requires at least some tool to be damaged.
Reliability: 75% (see note at the bottom of this
page)
Weaknesses: System produces very quiet humm when connected to
electric lock release.
It does not affect speech however. New version of sleek handsets seem to
be
less reliable than old ugly ones. Most of problems with this
systems are caused
by handsets.

DETAILS]
Notes:
Mixture of stainless steel
plating and galvanised steel frame gives it
very modern
and quality look. VIDEX is company with long history on the market
and excellent
reliability
record that can only be contested by "BPT".
Very well engineered in terms of protection against elements.
Lots of add-ons (like keypads, key fob modules) are available.
Reliability: 97% (see
note at the bottom of this page)
Weaknesses: System is very
modular meaning that if for example there is problem with push button
fails whole module has to be replaced what bumps up cost of repair.

VIDEX
GSM (Wireless)
No of flats : 1 to
10
Warranty :
2 years
Cost
DETAILS]
Notes:
This is wireless version of VIDEX shown above.
GSM means that it uses mobile phone technology to direct calls to
landline or mobile numbers.
Due to their high cost usually wired system is more affordable option
however there are situations
where those come very handy.
Click link above for more information.
Reliability: As it is relatively new
technology as well as those systems are rarely seen on properties
(mainly due to their cost) I can't offer any honest opinion on their
reliability.
Generally wired systems last longer than wireless.
Saying that VIDEX is manufacturer that rarely failed me in my over 20
years career as installer. |

Note about reliability rating
: It is percentage of systems that
required repair within five years form date of installation.
Please note that these are my own calculations based on systems that I
fitted over last 14 years.
Example:
75% means that 25 for every 100 systems required
repair within 5 years from the date of installation.
97%
means that 5 for every 100 systems required repair within 5 years
from the date of installation.
100% means that so far there has been no recalls for this systems.
